Invisalign Versus Braces…What Is The Difference?

If you are considering orthodontic care to change the appearance of your smile, you may be wondering, what is the best course. Many looking for options to straighten their teeth are asking themselves, invisalign vs braces, what treatment option is better for me? There is a distinct difference between these two options with each one having some advantages and disadvantages.

Invisalign is a series of plastic trays that gradually move the teeth into the correct position. They work by slowly forcing the teeth into alignment. The main difference between invisalign and braces is that braces are not removable and are attached to your teeth and work better and faster on certain cases. Invisalign, on the other hand, is a removable appliance that could be removed during the meal and when brushing.   Certain type of cases will not be suitable for Invisalign alone and fixed traditional braces would be needed to correct the issue. Sometimes there needs to be attention paid to more than just the aesthetics of the teeth.

Invisalign has the advantage of not being as punishing both to the gums and to the surrounding tissue. Aesthetically is much more pleasant to outside word than braces. Instead of a mouth full metal, invisalign is virtually naked to the eyes.  Of the two, invisalign may be more costly too due to amount of lab cost  and may be more time consuming as well. When possible, it is always best to get the evaluation of a professional orthodontist before deciding on a treatment options. In todays world, many regular dentists are doing some orthodontic work or invisalign, when possible always consult an orthodontist and not a general dentist when asking for teeth alignment correction.
